The Penglai Coastal Wine Characteristics Seminar was co-sponsored by the China Alcoholic Drinks Association Wine Committee and the People’s Government of Penglai, Yantai.

The unique maritime climate gives Penglai distinctive terroir, and made it one of the seven major grape coasts in the world.

With the continuous improvement of the popularity of the Penglai Coastal Wine Region , it has attracted worldwide attention. As well-known domestic and foreign wine companies such as COFCO Great Wall and Domaine de Longdai Chateau de Lafei Chateau Lafleur Carruades de Lafite, have successively settled in Penglai, invested in the wine industry. They have injected strong impetus into the development of Penglai wine industry.

In order to systematically and authoritatively describe the style and characteristics of Penglai wines, clarify the style of the coastal wines of Penglai, explore the typicality and uniqueness of the coastal wines, enhance the popularity and competitiveness of the region, and promote the Penglai production area to a new level. This seminar provide opportunity for more than 50 well-known domestic experts and major media to have a more comprehensive understanding of the unique terroir of coastal wines from Penglai. After the sensory evaluation of the characteristics of Penglai Coastal Wines, the sensory terminology of Penglai Coastal Wines was finally determined as: fresh and elegant, balanced and clean, delicate and supple, and long-lasting. It is learned that it is also the first production area in China to build a sensory evaluation system.
